It’s a shame none of us have time for afternoon tea anymore. Relegated to a luxurious treat in fancy hotels, I wish we could all stop for sandwiches with the crusts cut off every day. The Dove’s Nest in Calgary is one of the few places I’ve found that does it on a regular basis [...] Part of the fun in trying restaurants is venturing into newer parts of Calgary. Located in Quarry Park — which still doesn’t fully register on Google Maps or GPS — Colonial Fusion was a bit tricky to find directions for, but it turned out to be pretty straight-forward (Deerfoot to 24 Street East to 107 [...] I loathe Chinese desserts. Beans, jellies, cooked fruit in hot soup… BLEEEACH. Nonetheless, I was willing to accompany my sister and a couple of good friends to a Chinese dessert house in Markham. Hung Fook Tong is a Hong Kong company that manufactures bottled herbal drinks and packaged desserts. The Red Tea Box is Toronto’s best little hideaway. It makes me trip over with adjectives: pretty, quaint, charming and delicious.You walk into a little store selling fancy teas and Alice-in-Wonderland pastries.
