No visit to Edmonton is complete for us without brunch at Culina. The Sunday menu is smaller and slightly different than its signature Saturday brunch menu, but both still have my beloved bacon and eggs ($15).

It started off as a joke. But the more times we heard and saw the word “prorogue” this morning — and believe me that’s a lot in a newsroom — the more we envisioned a warm, solid plate of perogies for lunch as the country falls apart around us.

UPDATE: Bacon closed as of September 2008. Original co-owner Cindy Lazarenko has reopened it as Culina Highlands and has taken over the helm as chef. The venture is shared with new partners, who are her husband, Geoff Lilge, and her brother, Brad Lazarenko, who owns the original Culina in Mill Creek.
