CALGARY: loungeburger

Less than a month into its existence, loungeburger has surprisingly few kinks and a lot of juicy burgers, as I wrote in this week’s Metro Calgary review.

The Kobe beef burger ($20) is worth the hefty price tag, with a tender wagyu patty, Applewood cheddar and horseradish aioli.

The pretzel bun is a thing of wonder. [...]

CALGARY: Peters’ Drive-In

The website of Peters’ Drive-In has a quote attributed to actor Hugh Jackman from the Calgary Sun in April 2003: “I also learned quickly Calgary has the best hamburgers in the world. My driver took me to Peters’ Drive-In one day. After that I’d find any excuse I could to go back there.”

My medium-rare, [...]

The location we went to was packed on a Friday night, but perusing the [...]

EDMONTON: A burger the size of my head

This is what you get when you tear the engine out of a Cadillac Eldorado and hand-weld pieces of metal and whatnot to create a beautiful purple double-decker bus, but then not quite fulfill the dream of living upstairs while hitting the road to California.

Plan B: turn the bus into the Motoraunt and serve [...]

Jason Goes to White Castle

I haven’t been doing much on the eating and travelling front lately, but Jason’s been on the road near Chicago and sent me these photos from his cell phone. He has a strange affinity for mini burgers, so he felt compelled to pull off the interstate highway because he saw a sign for White [...]
