CALGARY: loungeburger

Less than a month into its existence, loungeburger has surprisingly few kinks and a lot of juicy burgers, as I wrote in this week’s Metro Calgary review.

The Kobe beef burger ($20) is worth the hefty price tag, with a tender wagyu patty, Applewood cheddar and horseradish aioli.

The pretzel bun is a thing of wonder. [...]

Globe Bistro‘s raison d’etre is prominently displayed on its menus and website: “Think global. Eat local.” So it was a perfect [...]

Oh random things

The weather is nice enough now for some leisurely weekend drives. Check out the Canadian Rocky Mountain Ranch, southwest of Calgary, that provides hormone and antibiotic-free elk and bison to the three resorts and four Calgary restaurants, including Divino, owned by the same company.

You can buy the same meats yourself at their on-ranch store, [...]

CALGARY: Blink, still good

I left my camera at home last time I went to Blink. I made sure to bring it this time for Gwendolyn’s birthday dinner.

Our party of 10 sat in the private dining room, which was a very comfortable, large square table so we could all talk to each other. The food and service were [...]

CALGARY: Best patio in the city

It took me til the end of the summer to stumble upon the best patio in the city — and I completely forgot to take a photo of it! Argh.

River Cafe has, I dare say, the perfect patio. Large, strategically placed umbrellas provide shade pretty much everywhere and its location on Prince’s Island Park [...]
