I ate there yesterday as we were traveling through. Fried clams and fries with a Pepsi came to $21. The fries were frozen, and store bought. With a sign reading 'best seafood in North America', I would expect they would at least have homemade fries. The clams were good but definitely not the 'best', and the portion size would make a 5 year old want more. I can't believe the claim to have the best seafood. Keep driving to southeastern NB for better seafood, even Deluxe Fish and Chips( A fast food restaurant) has better food. This place is nothing but a price gouging tourist trap. They must of jacked their prices because the new highway will close them down when it opens.

This article made me sad and homesick. I live in Toronto now, and I really would go anywhere in the GTA if I know that the Satay soup was in any way close to Pagolac. Any suggestions?

Love the pizza...consistent quality and extremely tasty. But, you are really missing out if you don't try the fire-roasted tomato bisque as it is absolutely outstanding.

Hi, glad your posting again followed you in YYC. Going to have to try here next month when out in Van for a bit. Any other places to try that you recommend? Sushi and must sees?

Was thinking of checking out Tojo's for their omakase as well, not sure what your thoughts are on that place?

Anyways, take care and thanks again

I just discovered this site. I don't believe my eyes. Is it possible that the Mc Lobster we ate repeatedly in Newfoundland in 1991 has gone so bad? It was served not on one of those hotdog buns that have the consistence of potty in your mouth, but on a delicious large "croissant" and was perfectly seasoned. I have never encountered the same since then. (Like the 1963 Valiant, good things don't last)...

I really like this place and will make it a regular neighbourhood watering hole. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is excellent. There's a fine selection of beers. The prices are very reasonable. As so many others have said, I hope this makes a go of it because that corner is notorious for seeing establishments come and go. There have been at least four different bars there in the six years I've lived in Sunnyside.

April 14, 2012 Just got back to Saint John area (Hampton actually!) and snacked at Ossie's. Although, it is a TAKE-OUT food place, the fries and the fish are the best. I travel 100 km. to have their fish. There are too few places within a radius of 300 kms. that can compete with its quality. I highly recommend their cooking of deep fried fish properly. I have never been disappointed. We make an effort of going there several times a year even tho' we live over 100 km away.

My party of 10 and i just came back from this restaurant.
The food was good as always. However the customer service was horrid.
We had 4 people who joined us later on just for a drink they barely ate anything (even though it was all you can eat). As we were leaving we paid all of our bills. Our total tips came to about 30 dollars. At this point the manager was present and seemed displeased and was reluctant to finish our bill. He actually asked people from my party saying "You didn't give us a good tip, its customary to tip more" I was flabbergasted. So i went and explained that half my party came later and didn't even eat more than 5 or 6 pieces of anything. Not to mention having to walk up to the front every time we needed to get the attention of a waiter. The service was lacking as we sat half the time with empty glasses waiting for water. The sign outside advertises all you can eat hot pot $18, but it doesn't say monday to thursday only.
Which the reply was a very snarky "Usually people tip 15-20%, you need to tip more". As he poked the bill with his finger. How rude is that???? So i said fine here ill put another 20 on my debit for you.
So at this point i was thoroughly offended. Now to add insult to injury the same said manager who grabbed my debit card right out of my hand and swiped it behind the till didn't give me my card back.
I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever.
