The Wildflower Grill is a sleek restaurant in the Matrix boutique hotel building. The downtown Edmonton establishment focuses on “new Canadian cuisine.”
We went there to try the Sunday brunch (11 a.m.-2 p.m.). Everything on the menu (9 mains, 3 sandwiches, 2 salads) looked delicious and promising.
A warm, buttery, crumbly cornbread muffin kicked everything off, [...]
A few of my girlfriends really wanted to host a stagette for me. But the whole notion brings to mind tacky tiaras, penis-shaped cups, and ‘Suck for a Buck’ T-shirts.
I am not a woo girl.
But after they assured me the night would involve none of the above, I consented to a small dinner with [...]
No visit to Edmonton is complete for us without brunch at Culina. The Sunday menu is smaller and slightly different than its signature Saturday brunch menu, but both still have my beloved bacon and eggs ($15).
I can try to pretend I’ll order something else, but I rarely do. The slow braised “bacon” is to [...]

You also got fries, a drink with a cardboard mast on the straw, [...]
The Edmonton Journal has a nice article today about some Alberta food blogs, and a look at some of the people behind them.
I’ve gotten to know some of them online, if not in person, and it feels like a member of the family has won a prize when they get some recognition.
This site got [...]
Whenever we visit Edmonton, we try to satiate cravings for things we can only get there. Last time, I won with my urge for satay pho, so it was definitely Jason’s turn to pick.
He was dying for … Burger Baron. The closest one to Calgary is in Red Deer, but there are more than a [...]
UPDATE – August 2010: The Motoraunt has closed after 27 years. Owner Carol Reczka decided to call it quits after she faced several city-ordered upgrades and a monthly rent that tripled.
This is what you get when you tear the engine out of a Cadillac Eldorado and hand-weld pieces of metal and whatnot to create [...]
