My colleague Sara and I found ourselves in North Vancouver for a rare out-of-the-office work day. After lunch, we decided to treat ourselves to something sweet from Rex Bakery. We knew nothing about it other than the fact that Sara was drawn to the ice cream cone graphic on the window, and I liked the orange font.
We walked in and were immediately infatuated with the trays of colourful pastries lining the glass counter.
Admittedly, we were like kids in a candy store, and the lady behind the counter was doing her best to humour us.
“What’s that?… And that?… And what’s that over there?”
There were no prices listed. Turns out you pay per pound. (If I was smart, I would have jotted that down, but I’m the lamest food blogger ever.)
We ended up with some pistachio cookies, baklava, custard thingies, and shortbread. That small box came to only about $4.50.
Someone please leave me a comment on what I should try next time I’m in a Persian bakery. Thanks!
