We went to a stomach-busting wedding of some very dear friends on the weekend at one of our favourite restaurants, Culina Mill Creek. I’ll blog about the food later, but the dessert was so good I have to write about it now.
The Queen of Tarts was responsible for the moan-inducing wedding desserts. Owner Linda Kearney has a booth at City Market Downtown on the weekends, and also does all the desserts at Culina.
The wedding cake was a gorgeous three tiers, decorated simply with red mokara orchids, which looked great against the dark chocolate ganache.
As if that wasn’t enough, there were also (nut-free) prosecco cupcakes with vanilla bean marscapone frosting.
I couldn’t tell if the prosecco was in the cake or the frosting, but either way, I really liked them. So much so that I was stealing abandoned cupcakes from other tables, and putting them in my purse.
OK, not my purse. But I would be cleaning frosting from inside my clutch, if it weren’t for the cute Chinese takeout containers at the candy buffet. The containers were supposed to be filled with candy as the wedding favour, but they worked just as well for carting home cupcakes.
