To drum up interest, the store is sponsoring a contest for Calgary’s best grilled cheese sammich. Your creative and/or delicious (hopefully both!) entry must contain a cheese available from the store. Send your recipe, name and contact info before March 28 to contest@jbfinecheese.com or drop it off in the cheese shop.
Janice Beaton will post entries on its Facebook page and in the shop. Caveat: “All submissions become property of JB Fine Cheese.”
The top three ideas — determined by public voting — will win a grilled cheese lunch and beverage for two to a max of $30 per visit, once a month for three months in the new Grilled Cheese Bar.
You can vote for your favourite between March 30 and April 4 online or in the store. Winners will be announced April 5, which is the same day the Grilled Cheese Bar will officially open.
It will feature “selection of warm and melty sandwiches” grilled in freshly baked ciabatta buns from Manuel Latruwe Belgian Patisserie.

That’s it? These two just don’t add up to anything worthwhile, no? That’s some caveat. Or am I missing something more? Hm.

A cheese shop that makes their own sandwiches? Sooooo good.
I still haven’t been to The Grilled Cheese in Kensington Market (Toronto). A comfort food restaurant that specializes in grilled cheese sandwiches.
I hope they won’t take offense when my son asks for “square cheese” (a.k.a. Kraft singles) on his sandwich.
