A marketing company sent me a bottle of the new Caramilk cream liquor to try over the holidays, lauding it as the “first chocolate bar flavour liquor in the alcohol market.”
This is definitely geared towards people with a sweet tooth and fans of cream-based liquors like Baileys.
I know the bottle is supposed to capture the chocolate bar in alcohol form, but I couldn’t help but conclude that it’s a lesser cousin of Baileys (which actually comes in a creme caramel flavour). The Caramilk cream liquor was watery and did not hold up well in coffee.
It was much better on its own as a cold sipping beverage, and I can see it tasting good over ice cream or blended into milkshakes, as the Calgary-based distributor suggests.
A 750-mL bottle, now available across Canada, retails for around $27. I think it’s worth picking up as a gift for a chocolate lover, or if the store is out of Baileys.
There are plans to introduce Caramilk Cream Coolers in four-packs of single-serve bottles. I can see that being a hit with university students (mostly girls).
(Disclosure: No fees were paid for this product review and the assessment is my own unbiased opinion.)

Oh dear, the four pack will indeed be popular with the novice drinkers. That would be a nasty hangover- worst (and last) hangover I ever had was after drinking shooters made of kaluha and malibu rum. I think I threw up my toenails the next morning. *shudder*
I bought a bottle to share among my friends for new years, out of sheer curiosity.
I couldn’t believe they had made this so I decided to give it a shot.
It was good on it’s own, and over ice.
I also warmed milk and added it as well which also turned out to be a nice treat on a very cold jan 3rd.
The “Hangover” was not as bad as I thought with the sugar levels in fact it was minimal almost non existant.
I recommend it
Such a shame, if it ain’t good in coffee there is really no point.
I tried this stuff too! I couldn’t contain myself when I saw it in the store! I’m a sucker for chocolate so pouring that creamy goodness over some ice was just what I needed to get through the holidays
