Hi Jayne! Thanks for your comment. It's unfortunate that you read into my post as "trashing" Robbie Stewarts after its closure. Before I could blog about my experience, it had closed. There was obviously no point in talking much about the food we had there. But I felt it was worth mentioning that another establishment had failed at that location, which many Calgarians are familiar with. And also, as a bit of a reminder that there are so many places we all make a mental note to try but sometimes run out of time.

Having read some of the reviews on Calgary restaurants, (many of which are outstanding)I understand the male owner of this particular place was at odds with the female partner and withdrew from the venture many months ago already. I am from another city and even I knew that. Arrogant? That's a personal judgement I suppose. Mine, then, is that that this owner is obviously intelligent and astute. Perhaps if it was soley HIS venture, it WOULD have been succesful. In any case, it's closed now. Why continue to trash it? Seems to me it's from the Department of Redundancy Department. Unless someone has a personal agenda to warrant personal slams...???

I would much rather spend my energy on finding establishments worhty of my words. I have wasted enough here.

With love,
Calgary restaurant fan from Edmonton. :>)

I always feel vaguely guilty when I hear that establishments close to my apartment have closed. I really meant to go there- but with such a range of fab pubby-type options in the area, I never made it.

Wow. I can't decide if that dessert is hilarious or offensive. Or hilariously offensive.

I heard an interview with the pub's owner just before it opened going on about why HIS venture would be successful. He came across as... Arrogant.

I only ate there once and knew it was doomed to fail. So mediocre. (But phallus-free that night.)

That location is truly cursed to fail. I wonder if another brave soul will try to set up an eating/drinking establishment there...
