Brian S is referring to the pasta press. I have one and I really like it. It complements the existing pasta cutters, where the cutters do mostly flat noodles, the press does round noodles. If you have all the cutters, spaghetti would be the only duplicate noodle the press can make. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and I had no problems on my first try. I think the trick is to weigh your flour and check to see if you need to add water to your eggs, I use 4 ounces flour for every cup and get the same dough every time.

My wife is interested in buying the new Noodle making attachement from Kitchen Aid, it makes several differnt styles of noodles etc. Have you done any testing on this attachement that we could read to determine if it is worth while buying?

Thanks

Hi Mike! While my background is as a journalist, this blog is my own personal hobby that I keep separate from my day job. However, I still strive to keep things on my personal blog as transparent as possible. I disagree that I buried anything, stating from the outset that a marketing company sent me the mixer and attachment. I felt it was worth noting that I wasn't paid a fee that dictated what I wrote, as opposed to being given goods to test and having the freedom to judge for myself the products' merits.

With the pics on our site, it helps to have a photographer wife who stands behind me, unfloured ;)

I must say, my first attempt at ravioli took me hours. Hours. Making pasta is pretty fun, though, isn't it?

Oops, my bad, the $180 price is still in the post. I apologize.

Time for some mea culpa ravioli made on the Kitchen Aid pasta attachment!

But I stand by my first comment.

But isn't the comping of the $180 pasta attachment package and the $400 Artisnal Kitchen Aid mixer equivelent to a "fee"? Could you tell me how you distinguish a comp from a fee?

I notice after my post you deleted the mention of the $180 cost of the Kitchen Aid pasta attachment package from your post. Why did you do that?

I thought journalists strived to set the record straight, not bury it?

Mike: My apologies, I should have outlined that. Yes, I was allowed to keep both the pasta kit and the mixer.

Cheryl: That sounds like a wonderful family memory, and a lot of fun!

Yeah, you definitely need to clamp the pasta machine. I can't see spending the money on these attachments when I can run to Dino Rossi's or Scarpones and get an old school kind. Of course, I have one from my mom. We used to take a day every couple of months and the whole family made noodles. We would dry them on every bed, covered with clean sheets.
I'm glad you now know the pleasure of fresh pasta at home!

You disclaimer is a bit ambiguous. Did you get to keep the pasta maker attachment and/or stand mixer?
