There are lots of notable things about pop bites, a combination wine bar, bakery, deli and dessert cafe. (It’s owned by the same company that runs Shui Hu Ju, several blocks away.)
I felt my cool quotient rise just by stepping inside. A DJ was spinning tunes (isn’t that what the kids call it?) in a back corner; paintings of Jesus and Mary were propped haphazardly on shelves; and bottles of wines and beers lined two walls.
There were several pleasant young ladies working there — but I swear they were all about five feet tall.
I think we had a cheesecake, chocolate torte and a chocolate something else. The cake desserts were nice — nothing remarkable, but nice.
The cheese platter took forever, but I guess that’s because they had to cube ALL the cheese by hand, and build a carrot and celery arrangement.
But my favourite part of pop bites was their bathroom. Pads of neon Post-it notes, a pen and lots of wall space. Genius!
