On our last visit, a relation in Macau zipped us around in her fancy imported sedan and made a stop at Lord Stowe's. It was the best part of an already great overnight trip to Macau! I'll have to show you the photo of me snapped just before I massacred that still-warm po-tat.

There was a craze in Vancouver (paralleling one in Hong Kong) a decade ago for the Darn Tarts, and they had to come from a Macau bakery, so the one in the Chinese mall at First and Renfrew was a favoured location.

By the way. Hsiao-Ching Chou, formerly Seattle P-I food critic is starting a food blog askance from you.

Might be worth a blog roll. She does more cooking than you though. Is your kitchen that clean?

I love these tarts. At least the version available in Edmonton. The Italian Centre on the south side has them but an even tastier version is available at the Portuguese bakery on 118 ave and 87 street. Now that you've reminded me, I have to go tart hunting :-)

Egg custard tarts. Since I have a serious sugar addiction and the chinese are not all that well known for desserts, those tarts are my life savers while travelling in China.

All my suppliers are aware of my love for them and always have them ready....one day I have to take a side trip to Macau to try that version!
