I’m a sucker for packaging and Brooklyn Brewery’s black chocolate stout comes in a good-looking package. All black and gold with a clear, swirly font, it caught Jason’s eye as we were browsing the Kensington Wine Market.
The beer pours out deep black with a frothy head. It’s thick and tastes like dark chocolate with an aftertaste of dark roasted coffee. Quite nice. It’s got a kick too with an alcohol content of 10.6 per cent.
This is like the first time I had a Guinness. I liked it — but I felt quite full after just one.
Considered an Imperial Stout — first created by British brewers in the 1800s to win favour with the Russian czar — this dark chocolate beer is brewed once a year and available only in the winter.
